POLICIES AND STRATEGIES
Trabajo Cooperativo: 1.
STRATEGY: POLICY NUMBER 7: To motivate teachers and propose campaigns or projects, in
order to promote the development of a natural English speaking atmosphere
around the school. STRATEGY: 100% English speaking attitude. POLICY NUMBER 8: Give a special interest and a wholesome dedication to the
implementation of the English program -Reading First- from Preschool up to
7th grades making sure of the students' progress in the five areas of
reading instruction (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and
text comprehension). STRATEGY: The implementation of the reading program can be improved by
encouraging students to participate in a great variety of activities, and
to communicate using the new vocabulary, text comprehension, phonemic
awareness, and phonics fluency POLICY NUMBER 9: In a systematic way, check, and correct the students'
pronunciation of the 44 phonemes of the English Language giving special
emphasis to Preschoolers and Elementary graders. STRATEGY: Repetition drills, correction techniques and pronunciation
modeling by the teacher, emphasizing on the most difficult pronunciation
phonemes. The evaluation and correction of students' pronunciation of the English
Language is essential, taking into account that mistakes are part of a
natural way to acquire the language. POLICY NUMBER 10: To continue working with the TPR method in the English
House and start implementing the TPR Storytelling program following the new
material the school just imported. STRATEGY: To continue implementing the TPR program is imperative to set a
positive and relaxed classroom where students communicate with each other
in English, learning from their own mistakes in a safe place, free of
criticism, tensions, grading, etc. a place where the kid feels at home
learning the language. POLICY NUMBER 11: To apply and implement the 15 minute silent reading time
for all the grades. This has to be done on the first day of the week, the
first hour of English, the first 15 minutes. Students are allowed to bring
whatever they want to read. (For the little ones, the readings will be
supplied by the teacher). It is imperative to carry out this activity in
the most serious and professional way. STRATEGY: POLICY NUMBER 12: Note book revision compulsory. Students, especially from
preschool and primary must present and carry their notebooks with the best
presentation possible with all the topics and activities worked on for a
periodical revision and follow up by the teacher and the head of the
department. This policy is also mandatory for high school. STRATEGY: POLICY NUMBER 13: Evaluations and quizzes. It is mandatory that all
important evaluations, final term evaluations, final evaluations, make up
evaluations, and make up works, must be presented and approved by the head
of the department. A copy of such evaluations and quizzes must be submitted
to be kept by the head of the department. STRATEGY: POLICY NUMBER 14: To continue promoting the World Studies program in 8th
and 9th grades in order to improve English culture knowledge and to extend
English vocabulary in the students. STRATEGY: Teachers must be 100% prepared for class. Lesson plans must be
