WAYLAND HIGH SCHOOL

MISSION AND EXPECTATIONS STATEMENT

Approved by Faculty and School Committee 5/03

Personal and civic responsibility, love of
learning, and empathy for others: these are
the qualities that Wayland High School seeks
to instill in its students. At its core, our
mission is to provide a rigorous and
stimulating academic environment that
promotes the acquisition of knowledge and
skills. Yet we deem it equally important to
nurture self-confident, collaborative, and
conscientious individuals. We strive to
create a climate where risk-taking is
safeguarded, open expression is encouraged,
and free association is protected. Our goal
is to advance our students' growth into
principled, informed, and capable citizens
who will help guide a democracy that follows
humanitarian principles in the global forum,
and shape a just society where individuals
may reach their full potential.

WAYLAND HIGH SCHOOL HONOR CODE

Written for students by students

The Wayland High School Honor Code enables students to work together as a
community. The Code will work if each member of the school community abides
by it. If each person follows the Code, there will be an atmosphere of
respect, trust, and consideration.

General Responsibilities and Expectations

1. Property -- Respect for individual and school possessions
Wayland High School is a place for personal and academic growth, and
destruction of the school's property reduces its worth to me. My actions
affect everyone around me, and I agree to protect my school knowing others
are helping me with my goal of maintaining the school's valuable property.

2. Personal -- Respect for individuals as people
