Exam aims is to determine the level of knowledge, skills and ability
to express thoughts clearly and convincingly as well as to determine the
level of competency of training and the ability to solve practical tasks
required for master degree in the specialty «6M011900 - Foreign language:
two foreign languages" and to obtain the scientific degree "Master of
Pedagogical Sciences."
Exam procedures. Entrance Exam for Master's degree in the specialty
«6M011900 - Foreign language: two foreign languages" is held on the subject
"Contemporary Methods of FLT." The content of the subject covers the
following issues: state and modern trends of the development of
methodological science based on the contemporary intercultural
communicative theory of foreign language education, methodical aim
categories, the content of FLT, their component composition and
interpretation from the standpoint of the new methodology and the theory of
foreign language education, also methods and techniques of FLT, conceptual
essence of the communication categories, intercultural communication, the
essence of modern methodical and methodological principles in the formation
of intercultural communicative competence as the main goal of foreign
language education at the present stage, the levels of education, problems
of organization and management of academic process, control and self-
control, modern technologies.
Subject matters include basic concepts and terms of modern methodical
science and the challenges and prospects for the development and
improvement of the theory and practice of foreign language education in
cognitive lingua cultural methodology of foreign language education
(Kunanbayeva S.S.), as well as research methods.
Basis for the ticket for the entrance exam to the magistracy in this
specialty is the program of the course "Contemporary Methods of FLT" for
entering graduate students.
Topics of this course cover the most important problems of modern
methods of foreign language education, basic patterns in the establishment
and development of FLT methods. Examination card consists of 3 questions:
1) 50 questions in the form of multiple choice tests oriented to
reveal students' theoretical knowledge;
2) 5 open questions oriented to reveal the skills of defining
scientific terms in Foreign Language Methodology ;
3)Assignment to write an essay about future scientific research
within the frame of Master degree program on the base of answering 5 main
questions.
According to credit technology, evaluation of the knowledge of
students is based on the following system:

increase of estimates is provided. Examination is carried out in written
and oral form. Requirements for entering to master program. Applicants have to show deep
theoretical and practical knowledge by a modern technique of the foreign
language education, traditional and modern approaches to a foreign and
domestic technique, knowledge of conceptual provisions of language policy
and a language situation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At the same time,
the attention of the examined has to be focused on the solution of a pragma-
professional task in the sphere of professional activity of the teacher of
FL, on demonstration of the competence-based preparation as readiness and
ability to realize the gained knowledge in practice in the professional
activity of the teacher of FL (taking into account competence-based model
of the expert).
Considering the purposes and problems of training of the specified
specialty, this program pays attention to detection of abilities entering
on training in a magistracy of complete understanding of modern problems of
foreign language education in the light of cognitive lingua cultural
methodology of foreign language education (Kunanbayeva S. S.)
At delivery of entrance examination in this discipline the special
attention is paid to theoretical and logical comprehension of methodical
problems of foreign-language education at modern school, ability to analyze
and be guided in the modern directions, approaches and technologies of
foreign-language education, to use meta language of specialty and the
corresponding terminology of modern methodical science.
Besides, the applicant has to be able to show professional and
significant abilities, to distinguish intrinsic characteristics of
competence-based and knowledge-based educational models, ability to use
pedagogical technologies in foreign-language education
